30% approval http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-02-09/news/ct-met-governor-pat-quinn-0210-20120210_1_tribune-poll-illinois-voters-quinn-and-legislative-leaders

Actually, here in IL the economy is much worse than in Wisconsin and it has both parties to blame for that. It's not that much Gov Quinn's fault he's picking up the pieces on blago and the republican governors before him and the horrible state legislature which actually is run by crooked democrats. The speaker is blago's father in law.

That's why he even won last time. The Dems stayed home - - - disgruntled because Obama hadn't saved the entire world, given them their pony, and righted every single wrong that had been wrought since the beginning of time! Idiots. Look where that little "i'll show them!" strategy got us!

The worst Democrat is a 1000% better than just about any Republican.

This is the major reason I was hoping to align the recall with the fall GE.

We need to GOTV like never before. And keep it up. We've lost our way and our state to these evil fucks and they will NOT go away lightly. They are fighting like demons to retain their power and do as much damage to us while they can.

I worked in audience measurement research for years. The major polling firms and companies like Nielsen, Arbitron and Scarborough have all started using cell only households included in their sample. Frankly they have to as nearly 25% of homes no longer have land-lines.

If the Dem, Independents, and Progressives think they can stay home or vote for a third party this time around and get a government they can live with, they will be in for a real big surprise in November. The changes in voter ID laws, and the innate hate and revulsion for the black man who sits as President will drive the haters to the polls in unprecedented numbers. These people are so eager to vote against their own interests that major earthquakes would not keep them from the polls. The rest of us sit this one out to our own devastating peril. The thirst party candidates will be leading the way to the slaughter house.

news for Walker:

With the exception of former Senator Russ Feingold, who would beat Walker 52-45, Walker either wins or loses to a slate of prospective challengers by +/- 3% points. The kicker is that many of Walker’s prospective opponents are far less known than he is, suggesting his challengers may make up even more ground as the electorate gets to know them. Mayor of Milwaukee Tom Barrett is leading Walker 49-46, with a favorability rating of 41/33 and 27% of voters not sure about him. Kathleen Falk leads Walker 48-47, with a 31/42 favorability rating and 27% of voters not sure about her. Walker leads former Congressman David Obey, 47-45, but 43% of voters don’t know enough about Obey to register an opinion on his favorability one way or the other. Similarly, Walker leads Jon Erpenbach 47-44, but 59% aren’t sure about Erpenbach. The same is true of Peter Barca (Walker wins 48-46, but 57% don’t know Barca), Ron Kind (Kind wins 46-45 despite 57% of voters not sure about him), Doug LaFollette (Walker beats him 46-45 with 49% of voters not sure about him), and Kathleen Vinehout - Walker beats her 46-44 with a full 60% of voters not knowing enough about Vinehout to form a favorable or unfavorable opinion of her.

A pretty interesting analysis on recent poll numbers

Helped by the ability to take unlimited contributions during the petition process, Walker has been able to dominate the airwaves. One Democratic group, Greater Wisconsin, spent a little under $1 million late last year, but there has been almost no anti-Walker advertising so far in 2012.

By contrast, Walker and a coalition that supports him (Americans for Prosperity and the MacIver Institute) have had a major presence on TV going back to last fall. The Walker campaign went off the air in mid-January, the pro-Walker groups went up, and now Walker has placed a major ad buy for March, according to two sources.

The governor has already aired between $2 and $3 million in broadcast ads, according to the ad-tracking firm Kantar Media CMAG. One media source on the Democratic side says that number rises to well over $4 million when you include cable and the upcoming Walker ad buy. The Pro-Walker groups have spent a few million of their own. And this is all before an election has even been scheduled.

Once the Democrats have a nominee, much of the money on the Republican side will be redirected against that candidate, where in theory it might have more impact, since that person is sure to be less well known, less loved by their own side and less hated by the other side than Walker is. In other words, just like Kerry in 2004, that person’s image should be more susceptible to the influence of advertising than Walker’s is.

But this may also one of those elections where voters have been exposed to so much information already, and have become so dug in on their opposing sides, that millions upon millions of dollars spent on television is, overwhelmingly, wastage.
