I have decided to run for governor of the great state of Texas.

As Texans, we believe that with hard work, determination, and a little old-fashioned common sense, we can build a better future for ourselves and our families.

We can make our communities safer, create jobs, and get Texas moving in the right direction.

I realize that we have a challenging road ahead. But after talking with my family, my friends, and my closest supporters -- I am convinced this is the right decision.

Texas is worth fighting for. I hope I can count on you to fight with me. Donate $5 or more right now to help kick off this exciting campaign.

I’m running in this race for my neighbors and friends, for the families of Texas, and for every Texas citizen who believes, as I do, that we can make Texas even greater.

As we start this journey, I’d like to thank you for all of your past support. It has been a big factor in my decision -- and I look forward to working with you as we move forward.

Give $5 or more right now:

I’m proud to be running for governor, because I know that we can make Texas even greater.

Thank you for everything,

Wendy

Her likely opponent would be current GOP frontrunner, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, who has a war chest close to $25 million. The election is in November 2014.

“Without voter fraud, Obamacare would not exist,” Abbott said.

Abbott, who launched his 2014 bid for Texas governor in mid-June, has been a leading force behind the state's voter ID law. Immediately after the Supreme Court ruled that a key provision of the landmark Voting Rights Act was unconstitutional, Abbott announced that Texas was moving forward with its strict legislation.

8. Abbott is vile. He said horrible things about Davis when she filibustered.

She will need our help to win against him - but I am hopeful she'll get the support she needs.

She's got 1.3 million against his 25. Lots of fundraising to do!
