Was all the shooting coming from police only?

A child was found unhurt in the suspect's car, authorities said. The woman was not carrying identification and has not been identified. Police said there were no weapons found in the suspect's car.

" The suspect) circled monuments in front of Capitol Hill twice while being pursued. Then she headed toward the Capitol where Capitol Hill police and Secret Service opened fire and shot her," said Senate Sergeant at Arms Terry Gainer.

Sources said the woman's vehicle is leased with out of state license plates.
A Capitol Police officer, who was initially reported shot, was later found to have been injured in a traffic accident involving an automated barricade during the pursuit.

I guess John Stewart will have more material for his show.

(2,667 posts)There will be a story told at the Presser, but how much of it is factual remains to be seen. If no one other than police were armed and the only person harmed by any means other than being shot was a policeman who ran into a barricade then I'd say that not many facts will be presented - because after all, who will be doing the presentation?

Remember, those are the same reporters spewing GOP talking points. Why would they be more reliable here?

And, I think you mean "excessive."
In this case, deadly force was not "excessive."

(48,121 posts)Because it is always great to talk about how and not why (no one really cares why).
Even if less than one percent use their cars to harm others we should register them. Oh wait, they already are. That didn't prevent this person. Um...a list of all people we let drive? No...that didn't prevent it either. There has to be a law we can pass to make sure no one ever does this again. Any law passed would make me feel safer at this point (just whatever we do, don't blame that poor lady or look for a cause).

She refused to get out of the car. I don't think this is a case of a bad driver with bad judgement. She had some sort of agenda.

(135,060 posts)A crazed Connecticut woman who tried to ram her way into the White House was shot and killed Thursday after she led police on a high-speed chase through Washington that left one police officer injured.
The woman, a 34-year-old dental hygienist from Stamford who once lived in Brooklyn and who ABC News said has a history of mental health issues, had a child in the car with her who was not hurt, officials said.
The drama began around 2:20 p.m., officials said, after the female motorist --- driving a leased black Infiniti sped into the driveway leading into the White House and tried to breach security at 15th and Pennsylvania Ave., officials said.
Thwarted by the pylons and confronted by cops with their guns drawn, the woman spun the car around and hit the gas knocking a Secret Service agent over the hood of the car as she sped away.
With Capitol police and Secret Service agents in hot pursuit, the woman raced 12 blocks toward the Capitol, chased at speeds of up to 80 mph at some points.
