Republican who voted for shutdown confronts park ranger and demands apology for shutdown

GOP Congressman Makes Park Ranger Apologize for Shut Down
by Neetzan Zimmerman

In an astounding confrontation that took place yesterday at the World War II Memorial in DC, a Tea Party congressman from Texas appeared to blame the Park Service for denying veterans access to the facility — and then made a Park Ranger apologize for the shutdown. "How do you look at them and ... deny them access?" Rep. Randy Neugebauer asked the unidentified Ranger in an incredible exchange that was caught on camera by NBC Washington.

In fact, the Park Service has been invoking the First Amendment in order to allow vets into the memorial despite the shutdown making it illegal for the department to do so.

"It's difficult," the Ranger replied. "Well, it should be difficult," scorned the congressman. "It is difficult," the Ranger repeated. "I'm sorry, sir."

"The Park Service should be ashamed of themselves," said Neugebauer. "I'm not ashamed," the Ranger retorted.

"You should be," sneered Neugebauer.

that he's the one that should be ashamed? I know the teabagger skulls are so empty that they're bulletproof to facts, but the ranger should have at least tried, beyond saying he wasn't ashamed. And then he apologizes?!

But, yes, you're right about him then trying to get a public employee fired for speaking their mind. I wouldn't put it past him to try anyway for shutting the monument. I only hope people higher up in the Park Service are able to take these idiots to task in defense of their rangers.

This is the same teabagger who used campaign funds to buy a yacht
http://www.juanitajean.com/2011/02/16/yachting-dandy-randy-works-hard-to-make-fool-of-self/

Most of you are familiar with Juanita’s favorite yachtsman, Republican Congressman Randy Neugebauer of deep West Texas. The district that Randy represents is landlocked and 95% dessert. The other 5% is asphalt.

“However, Randy bought a damn yacht with his campaign donations. Not a bass boat. Not even a ski boat. It’s a yacht. In fact, here’s what it looks like,” she shows a picture to everyone and they all say, “Damn, girl, that’ a yacht!”

Here is a picture of the yacht purchased with campaign funds

too obtuse to realize that all but the teapartiers, in seeing this little episode, is smart enough to see the irony - and given his composure in delivering the irony ("The park service should be shamed&quot - will feel no sympathy for him, but instead for the park employee (and other federal worker.) Dude might have felt righteous in the moment - but he has done his "cause" (the govt shut down unless the other party caves for 45 days of funding), harm.

According to Juanita Jean, CREW has filed an ethics complaint against this idiot http://www.juanitajean.com/2013/10/04/at-the-very-least-someone-should-sink-his-yacht/

Well, the good folks over at CREW did more than just get upset. They did something.

Today, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed a complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics against Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-TX) for conduct that reflects discreditably upon the House.

I know. It’s hard to believe that he hasn’t been be brought up before on “conduct that reflects discreditably upon the House.” Of course, Tom DeLay and Louie Gohmert lowered the standard on that pretty good.

“Rep. Neugebauer’s demeaning treatment of the ranger reinforces the commonly held belief that members of Congress are arrogant and have an over-inflated sense of superiority,” continued [CREW Executive Director Melanie] Sloan. “The House cannot permit its members to berate federal employees for a government shutdown for which Congress is responsible. Rep. Neugebauer needs to be held accountable for his reprehensible conduct.”

This is good news.
