You can select your state and see what stations carry Rush'es show.

(45,851 posts)That makes it an "official" complaint, the station's public file is just that, anyone can ask to see it.
Also send a copy of your letter to the FCC and the advertiser as well as the advertiser's agency if they use one.
If you use registered mail they can't pretend they never got the letter, you have a signed receipt.

I wouldn't waste my time asking them to pull his show.

(4,982 posts)Copy their advertisers and the FCC.
Give the letter time to arrive (2 days to a week or so depending on where you live)
These letters MUST be placed in their public file. This is a file the FCC requires them to have -- and to keep updated with letters such as the one you sent along with their responses.
Go to their station office. Ask to see the public file. Look for your letter and whatever response they gave, if any.
If it's not there, report it to the FCC and ask that their license be revoked. There's a form for that. I can't remember the name of it. You may be able to fill it out online.
Their license to broadcast can be pulled if: they refuse to let you see that public file on demand - or if your letter isn't in it.
These stations use PUBLIC airwaves and they are supposed to SERVE THE PUBLIC. If they're not, as evidenced by that file or their refusal or diddling in letting you see it, their license can be revoked.
It's a "slower" way to shut the damn broadcast stations down that carry Rush. You have to write and send letters and then go visit your local station that carries him, make notes dates, time, who you talked to, etc. and potentially contact the FCC.
But I'm told this is how it's done. Maybe it's wrong, but it's what I've heard from two sources - one a "radio industry insider" (this was posted here yesterday) and the other a media activist (ie: public rights when it comes to the media).
