Just because we live and breathe politics doesn't mean the vast majority of citizens (especially criminals) do.
Get a grip. I'm now hearing something about a baby being removed from a car. Domestic dispute?
Claiming that the NRA is to be blamed for this is just as hysterical as the right wingers claiming False Flag!! Some of you need to get a grip on reality, its embarrassing.

(175 posts)that the NRA and the tea party put this person up to it? Because thats what the thread implies and what I was responding to. How about it was a crazy person. I'm betting money on it being just a crazy person and not some wide spread conspiracy.

Yes the NRA frequently hands out guns for free to gangbangers and Wayne La Pierre drives around droping guns on street corners for kids to find.
Doesn't matter that about 30% - 40% of Democratics own guns... We should kick them out of the party!!

(175 posts)All those people who received guns would have had to pass a background checks. They weren't giving them out without asking questions or giving them to kids. It would be the same as those people buying a firearm but those groups subsidized the cost. Please try again to show how the NRA or tea party caused this.

(175 posts)Unless your trying to tell me that these groups did not run background checks on the individuals receiving the guns, because I can assure you they did. If you have proof otherwise please post it.
There are only two ways to obtain a gun (legally, stealing doesn't count) without a background check.
The only ways to avoid a background check is either is a private transfer between parties that live in the same state or by gifting a gun from one individual to anther.
Private transfers dont have to verify that the recipient is a non felon but cannot know they they are a felon. Private sellers do have to verify they live in the same state.
Gifting operates the same way, but if you give away a firearm you better be damn sure their not a felon because the case can easily be made if you know someone well enough to give them a $200+ item you should know if their a felon or not.
If you think their are more way to obtain a firearm without a background check, please list them here for all of us.
The Straight Story
(48,121 posts)And I am sure DC has gun laws that the lady would have obeyed anyway - but they need more traffic laws and such for cars since she tried to use it as a weapon.
A source told ABC News that initial reports were that someone tried to ram the gate at the White House, and then fled to Capitol Hill. There was a short pursuit, and shots were fired. It's unclear if the suspect or officers fired the shots.
Still have reports coming in, so maybe someone did use a gun other than government employees.
Edit: As I said, reports still coming in, here is another take:
NBCWashington ?@nbcwashington 6m
Female driver who had rammed White House gate then drove to Cap Hill, exited her car, started shooting, then was herself shot.
- So we still don't have a clear picture, let alone who should be blamed (obviously not the shooter/driver, responsibility should be on others who guns, guns, organizations, etc. If she didn't use a gun then we can look at causes and such....)
