All this fake outrage is driving me crazy!
Regarding the World War II memorial or NIH funding or whatever the Republicans prop up to claim they want to piecemeal in.
This is their shutdown. Theirs. Not ours. Theirs. They choose to make a stink about it because they didn't like a bill that was signed into law and upheld by the courts.
And now their shocked--shocked!--that certain things funded by government, even if deemed "non-essential", if shut down have negative implications on the public.
Well, duh.
In a rational world, maybe they'd come to a realization that gee, maybe the federal government isn't always the problem and that it does a lot of things that contribute to the day to day enjoyment of life of the citizen.
But this is no rational world that they're coming from.
Republicans, it's your shutdown. Congratulations, you fucking own it.
