Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R) helps gov't shutdown, says park ranger should be ashamed

From the Washington Post:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics-live/liveblog/live-updates-the-shutdown-showdown/#bcb4af5e-4ed7-450b-b8fe-135798bb1399

“How do you look at them and say — how could you deny them access?” Neugebauer says at the World War II Memorial. “I don’t get it.”

“The Park Service should be ashamed of themselves,” Neugebauer says.

“I’m not ashamed,” the ranger says.

“Well, you should be,” Neugebauer says, before walking away.

He is then confronted by a man who says he is a 30-year federal government employee who is out of work. The man tells Neugebauer that the ranger is just doing her job, and that Congress is responsible for federal parks and memorials being shuttered.

Holy crap on a crap cracker. They really do want to have it both ways, don't they? They want to be able to pull the lever to shut it all down, then blame those that they've furloughed for the results. I don't understand how republicans' heads aren't just exploding from cognitive dissonance.

The good news is, it looks like they're just killing themselves on this.

This story is all over Facebook. Andrea Mitchell showed a clip of the fed worker giving him shit about how he treated the ranger.

They need to be called out on the duplicity and hypocrisy as frequently as possible. The republicans must be allowed to shift the conversation, or the blame, on to the people that they are victimizing.

I'd call him an asshole, but assholes actually perform a useful function...unlike that nimrod.

It's a thing of beauty, however, to see how much the RepubCritters love, love, LOVE, LOVE being in front of a camera, photo-opping at every lens aimed at them--only to step firmly in a pile of viral video poo.

Keep up the good work, pugs!

7. That WWII Memorial

That WWII Memorial seems to be the epicentre of it all right now. The Republicans want to use it and those poor veterans as a symbol of how the dirty liberals are creating innocent victims. Michelle Bachmann is making her presence there known, and Sarah "You Betcha" Palin is being as clever as her handlers can be with her comment that the barricades are "Barrycades" and blames the POTUS for it. She even manages to tie Benghazi into it!

Link here for the Politico story: http://www.politico.com/story/2013/10/sarah-palin-world-war-ii-memorial-president-obama-97775.html?hp=r11

How cynical and terrible do these republicans and republican shills have to be to use WWII veterans in such a shocking display?

This bully incident and the strange Stutzman comment. There have been other stories today as well (e.g., the "mansplaining" incident on CNN's Costello show).

... not that that's really a terribly new thing. They've been kicking their own asses for a while, now, in their froth to unseat a democratically elected leader. The last two Democrats in office have proven that they just can't play with others.

This is the same teabagger who used campaign funds to buy a yacht
http://www.juanitajean.com/2011/02/16/yachting-dandy-randy-works-hard-to-make-fool-of-self/

Most of you are familiar with Juanita’s favorite yachtsman, Republican Congressman Randy Neugebauer of deep West Texas. The district that Randy represents is landlocked and 95% dessert. The other 5% is asphalt.

“However, Randy bought a damn yacht with his campaign donations. Not a bass boat. Not even a ski boat. It’s a yacht. In fact, here’s what it looks like,” she shows a picture to everyone and they all say, “Damn, girl, that’ a yacht!”

Here is a picture of the yacht purchased with campaign funds

It is hard to take anything that this idiot says seriously

According to Juanita Jean, CREW has filed an ethics complaint against this idiot http://www.juanitajean.com/2013/10/04/at-the-very-least-someone-should-sink-his-yacht/

Well, the good folks over at CREW did more than just get upset. They did something.

Today, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed a complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics against Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-TX) for conduct that reflects discreditably upon the House.

I know. It’s hard to believe that he hasn’t been be brought up before on “conduct that reflects discreditably upon the House.” Of course, Tom DeLay and Louie Gohmert lowered the standard on that pretty good.

“Rep. Neugebauer’s demeaning treatment of the ranger reinforces the commonly held belief that members of Congress are arrogant and have an over-inflated sense of superiority,” continued [CREW Executive Director Melanie] Sloan. “The House cannot permit its members to berate federal employees for a government shutdown for which Congress is responsible. Rep. Neugebauer needs to be held accountable for his reprehensible conduct.”

This is good news.

They all need to be called on the carpet for their bullshit. The more people hold them to what they say, the better.

We also have to stop letting them get away with "I'm sorry if anyone found my comments offensive" non-apologies.
