That's a weapon used against anyone who says anything monstrously anti-gay - that they must be in the closet to say such a thing. It's an attempt to make the gay community own the monster - when it's the gay community that's being attacked.

who says something anti-gay. It's just that it's happened enough times for people to speculate on it (particularly given Limbaugh's well-known past behavior).

There's a similar issue with people who spout racist or anti-immigrant beliefs but then it turns out they're having a secret affair or they in fact have some ancestry in the group they pretend to hate.

All I know is there's nothing wrong with being gay and one's sexual orientation shouldn't be used as a weapon or leverage against anyone.

What this direction sounds like to me is: Rush is a secret gay so that explains *everything*. This makes it seems that the same people he attacks also need to own his behavior and that it really *is* dirty if he's gay, because the people he associates with think it's dirty. See where I'm going here? I know he's a living breathing hypocrite about most everything, but using being gay as stigma for someone in his circle is still using being gay as a stigma.
