Iran's Parliament passes law legalizing paedophilia. So says lawyer Shadi Sadr, who works

for the group Justice for Iran. The law in question allows father's to marry their adopted daughters as young as 13 years old.

The law was approved by the Iranian members of parliament and maintains that girls can marry with the permission of their father at the age of 13 and young boys at the age of 15.

'This bill is legalizing pedophilia,' lawyer Shadi Sadr, who works for the group Justice for Iran, told the paper.

'It's not part of the Iranian culture to marry your adopted child. Obviously incest exists in Iran more or less as it happens in other countries across the world, but this bill is legalizing pedophilia and is endangering our children and normalizing this crime in our culture.'

No one is saying incest or underage sex doesn't happen in the US or elsewhere. THe reality is that Iran has legalized it.

In 1957, the legal age for marriage in Mississippi was 14 for men and 12 for women, though it was revised upwards by a law passed that year.

I'm not saying I agree with Iran - just looking for some consistency here.

Sadly, pedophilia is legal in a number of Middle Eastern nations, including Yemen and Saudi Arabia. They specify NO minimum marriage age, and little girls are sometimes married off as young as six years old. Incest, or marrying your own siblings, children, or parents, is another story entirely, and is considered a deeply shameful act.

Ironically, even in Saudi Arabia, a nation that routinely allows gray haired elders to marry and bed 8 year old girls, marrying your own daughter will get you beheaded.
