NSA director admits to misleading public on terror plots

The administration has been amping up stats about foiled plots to bolster support for mass surveillance

In so many words, NSA director Keith Alexander admitted Wednesday that the Obama administration had issued misleading information about terror plots and their foiling to bolster support for the government’s vast surveillance apparatus.

During Wednesday’s hearing, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy pushed Alexander to admit that plot numbers had been fudged in a revealing interchange.

Director of National IntelligenceJames R. Clapper denied that the number of plots foiled should be the sole metric by which the success of the program is measured. “I think there’s another metric here that’s very important. … I would call it the ‘peace of mind’ metric."

With what is spent yearly on bombs and war. I doubt We The People would eff up our priorities so bad, if we had a real and direct say.

They LIED. What a surprise.

Any NSA apologists want to take a crack at this now? All that money we're spending is NOT being directed at terrorism. It's directed at US.

“These weren’t all plots, and they weren’t all foiled,” Leahy said, asking Alexander, “Would you agree with that, yes or no?”

“Yes,” replied Alexander.

.... when they said it. First it was 20. Then it was 50. And then ''''crickets''''.

They probably cannot come up with a SINGLE REAL TERROR PLOT that they successfully foiled. Not ONE.

StarFleet Commander Alexander still hasn't captured Khan, though. For that, he'll need another $3 billion.

Seriously, these lies are why I don't trust a single word out of the mounts of these folks. They will say ANYTHING, their entire world view is one of deception 24/7 and it makes me sick that my tax dollars are paying these people's salary.
