In the long run, they are large corporations, plain and simple. Large corporations will not do well if this shutdown continues and our debts are not paid. It really isn't rocket science. The large corporations do not want to see the United States government default on its debt. So, they will turn on these people. that is it...and you will see these Tea Party dumb asses destroyed by the media that built them.. It has started. The slanting and reporting will gradually become evident. "This is destroying the country". That will be the message clear and simple. Over and over again..story after story on how the country is being destroyed.. to destroy the leaders of ridiculous move.. And that reporting will become clear to almost everyone. Obama will have poll after poll showing he is our leader and doing the correct thing. They will be destroyed. It will hurt the bottom line of the corporations, and that is totally unacceptable.

(39,374 posts)Re-open. Clean resolution. Business as usual. Get on with it.
The Republicans? Give us something for our political pain. De-fund a health care act that's already moving forward. Or re-work parts of it. Or fund the parts of government that we need. Or...
Americans have an abiding attraction for the straightforward. This time, it's the Republicans who are doing nuance.

(39,313 posts)beholden to corporations all that much. Except the Kochs and similar. That makes me wonder if enough pressure can be exerted to stop the Teabaggers. They're still getting funding.

(38,427 posts)Present this like it is a crises brought on by terrorists. Yes, the media can do that if it is persistent enough. Story after story about hostage taking, language that will destroy the Tea Party. Reports by sympathetic reporters on how this is simply unfair to the country without presenting the Tea Party point of view as has been done in the past ..The Kochs can fight it, but they do not control the MSM ...Comcast, Disney, Paramount, do not want a default. The Teabaggers will not get that equal coverage of their cause that they have been getting. It will slant heavily to opening up the government and not defaulting Their leaders will be shoved aside like a snow plow. ..forgotten ...shunted aside like last years snow..

(39,313 posts)to see how it's playing. On msnbc the focus is shifting to children not getting experimental cancer drugs etc. That should be front page in many places but we'll see. When it's on the front page of Southern papers then we might get somewhere. Problem being that due to gerrymandering these Teabaggers already know that they only need to win over crazies in their own districts.

(38,427 posts)We will see. It will be over the next few days.. or perhaps a week. As we get closer to default, I believe that all favorable coverage of the Teaparty point of view will stop. Default this time will not last a short time the way this nuts are talking..And I could be wrong completely...hell. what else is new? but we will see....I hope I am correct and default is prevented no matter how the MSM presents the news.. I ain't in charge of nothing..................my congress person is a progressive democrat ..Rep. Jan Schakowsky

(39,313 posts)It's amazing that we have to count on them. Maybe it will cause a "sea change". Something might register about where their interests lie.

(25,966 posts)It would be sufficient for the non-teabagger GOP (I hate to use the word "moderate" to defect. And they are more classical GOP, beholden to their corporate masters.
