The Government Shutdown Explained in One Candid Quote

By Adam Martin

"We’re not going to be disrespected .... We have to get something out of this. And I don’t know what that even is." — Rep. Marlin Stutzman, a conservative Republican from Indiana, explains to the Washington Examiner why the House GOP won't just send a "clean" spending bill to the Senate.

"We’re Just Delaying ObamaCare Until We Win The Senate And Repeal It"

"Republican Rep. Trey Radel of Florida said Saturday that his fellow House Republicans are only looking to delay ObamaCare for a year so that they can repeal the law after they win the Senate in the 2014 midterm elections...
“Well, I think the economy can begin to function. What happens, there’s a political part to this undoubtedly,” Radel said when asked what a year-long delay to the implementation of ObamaCare would do. “What’s going to happen is we’re going to win the Senate and we’re then going to be able to do what’s best for the American people, which is to get rid of this law.”
