How Can We Afford To Have Nothing Passed Until 2014? There Won't Be Any Nation Left.

We have to try to vote these people out by 2014. How long could they theoretically hold out? This funding bill is only short term. How many times will we fight a battle over funding? Even if we pass this funding.

Allrightie then.

They're about to find out which parts of the country are the most dependent on government spending.

Ultimately the Libertarian dream is that the government only funding the DOD and Homeland Security and nothing else is total nonsense.

if Obama makes a prime-time address to the nation along the lines of the following: "The representatives of the American people in both houses of Congress passed the Affordable Care Act; the Supreme Court upheld it, and I won re-election with a 51% majority against Governor Romney last year in a campaign that focused heavily on the issue of healthcare. Now the Republicans in Congress want to wreck the country if it's not defunded; they don't have the votes to repeal it, so rather than abide by the democratic process enshrined in the Constitution, they've decided to behave as terrorists and hold the country hostage if their demands aren't met. Now, that's not what I was elected to do; I swore an oath to uphold the Constitution and faithfully execute the office of President, and I intend to fulfill that oath, even if some members of the other party prefer to break theirs"...makes it absolutely clear where the fault lies, and what the problem is, and that talk of "compromise" is nonsense because he's doing his job, and they aren't doing theirs...then the effect of any extended shutdown of government may end up being the death of the Republican Party (or at least a wound they'll take a long time to recover from).
