Time to give up on healthcare.gov for a couple weeks?

Something tells me that trying to get this going is just an exercise in frustration. Am I correct that the insurance that you sign up for there will not start until Jan 1st, 2014 anyhow, so as long as you are set up by Dec 15th, 2013 you are good to go?

It will be nice to have insurance for the first time since 1998 (no more $20,000 ER visits over simple stress-based chest pain!), but the deductibles and copays that I saw still look pretty daunting.
