Reality: The "Revolt Against Obamacare" is a Trojan Horse.

This meme is being used as a bludgeon. An excuse or reason to destroy the U.S. government and effect a coup.

The GOP gang is hiding behind that excuse.

It really has nothing to do with Obamacare and everything to do with a coup. This was the intent. To use the advent of Obamacare as this bludgeon.

The whole of our system is under attack.

That's why the Baggers don't care about the polls, or the negative effect in public opinion.

They are a juggernaut, intending to smash it all in ways we did not contemplate.

It's been happening since at least 1980. It's unreal that fewer than 100 people in the House can hold the country hostage, but that's where we are. Even if we get all the Democrats to vote in 2014 and throw most of them out, this fight won't be over. In fact, I suspect their tactics will be even more overt and desperate. The people who own this country aren't going to let it go quietly.

This is a test to see what they can get away with. They don't give a flying fuck about opinion or polls or whatever.
They were (IMO) drunkenly celebrating a brazen attempt at a coup, not an attempt to get rid of one law they don't like. Their original wish list tells me that.

It's way, way bigger than that. We are in terrible trouble.

We are in more trouble now than we were under Bush.

Think about these:
Prescott Bush tried to recruit General Smedley Butler to lead a coup against FDR.
The Kennedy assassinations, Nixon negotiating with North Vietnam to not reach a peace accord with LBJ so as to use the continuing war as a campaign issue. Reagan negotiating with Iran to keep the hostages until after the election. If Carter had negotiated for their release Reagan never gets elected. The Clinton witch hunt that was not based on any impeachable offense, and now they will impeach Obama if he employs the provision of the 14th Amendment to raise the debt limit.
The sons of bitches belong in prison not Congress.

Were you around in the '70's? There was no way Carter was going to be re-elected, hostages or not. We were dealing with gas lines, high mortgage interest rates, etc., and I remember how he was nothing but a big joke--even SNL was against him, sketches about his hemorrhoids, and killer bunnies, etc. Everythig was stacked against Carter.

Boner wants another piecemeal grand bargain which will last 30 days at which point the President is supposed to go back to the House and concede some more programs of which the 1% disapproves.

Thu Oct 3, 2013, 06:57 AM

It has been gnawing at them since the day he won the election in 2008. It has been like a cancer consuming them to the point they feel they must throw him out of office. They tried not approving any of his appointees. The have blocked legislation to the point where they were getting nothing done, remember McConnell saying they would block all Obama's legislation? They have brought the country to the brink time and again over the budget and debt. They thought they could lure Obama into a war with Syria and have that to use against him but he fooled them with diplomacy. They know that impeachment will not work, they thought about that when they were chasing Benghazi ghost, it wouldn't even go up the flag pole.

The group driving the teabaggers who are controlling the republicans at this point can not allow this black president to continue have the success he has seen to this point in his presidency in spite of all their efforts to thwart him. The would destroy the country over their hate for one man, that is how racist the teabaggers are.

I believe you could be correct.

I pray you are not.

This has been going on since Carter's presidency and no doubt before. The republicans have been taken over by fascists and are doing everything they can to subvert the constitution. It all seems too coincidental. Both Kennedys, murdered. RFK would have easily won the election in 68. I've always felt there were others behind those two murders. They are traitors. Ike, the last good republican was right and we didn't listen.

I don't think our nutty teabagger friends and/or neighbors have any clue, but Obama has addressed it already. If anyone missed this NPR interview it is very instructive: http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2013/10/01/227923812/obama-perpetual-cycle-of-brinksmanship-has-to-end.

... but like the Iraq war, the "ownership society", the "war on terror" and any number of other Republican "ideas", I don't think it's going to work out as they expect.

Personally, I think it is damn well about Obamacare. They want to deny Obama ANY success of any kind. While I'm not much of a fan of Obama, I think the ACA is an incremental improvement over the status quo and I think there is a reasonable concern by the pukes that the ACA will be a smashing success and they can't have that for many reasons.

This is about our Democracy. It's about the forceful takeover of our system and our way of government by a few extremist zealots. It IS a coup.

The objective is to take over the government and 'shrink' it to military-only and nothing else -- and have it run by a these minority zealots.

THAT is not a Democracy or a Republic or any kind of representative government at all. They absolutely seek to destroy and make impotent anything about our government that is Democratic or representative or that serves the people of this nation.

It's a coup.
