talk right off the front pages of the newspapers and off the cable news shows. I'm wondering if that is either good or bad for this Administration? Any thoughts?

(14,255 posts)are concerned, I don't miss the bloviating talking heads. If the media reported facts instead of agenda-driven opinions, I would feel differently.
Also, maybe the president standing strong against the GOP is heartening to the rest of the world - if the GOP thinks they can extort laws they don't like into the corn field (obscure twilight Zone reference , then how is another country to know that the Boehner Gang won't go after foreign accords next?
This shutdown is now, to me, a huge test of what the tea party can actually get away with. The ramifications go far beyond the ACA, I think.

(25,250 posts)If the President looks weak amongst his own government - what does that do to his negotiating a nuclear treaty with a country like Iran. If the President gives in to the Repugs here - why wouldn't a foreign leader try the same type of extortion and holding hostage as the Repugs are doing to him.
This really is a "stand your ground" show down with the Repugs here - cause if he gives in here - he looks weak to our foreign enemies.
If I were the President - in that meeting that I had yesterday with the House and Senate leaders - I would sure make that point to Boehner and McConnell. They need to know that they are endangering foreign relations and negotiating and not just shutting down our government - but they are endangering people all around the world - not only economically - but on a security front.
This is another point that I wish this administration and the Dems should make - every chance that they get.
The Repugs are a danger to our national security and the security of our allies all around the world - by playing extortion games because of their political gamesmanship.
