Hopefully it's simply a traffic problem and not a website problem. Amazing !

(30,439 posts)This kind of thing is so incredibly common. There are so many working parts such as database servers and application servers. Performance issues happen all the time, especially when there's high traffic.
In fact, it's unusual when things go swimmingly well 100% of the time.

(37,457 posts)the website is still overwhelmed with traffic. I feel bad for the people who are having problems accessing the site, but I am confident HHS will remedy what they can in the coming days.

(3,539 posts)you don't shake out all of the problems until people start using it. It makes the problem look worse than it is when on the GA date the whole world wants to use it, RIGHT NOW!
In the case of the ACA Apps, we should probably consider that a good thing.
One thing for sure, whoever is the overall QA rep on this will not be getting a lot of sleep in the near future.
Trust me on that one.

Assuming you can stay up longer.

(37,457 posts)I've already done my application, so I have to be patient and simply wait for my state's options. It's not fair of me to add to the overburden, despite my curiosity. I was just amazed that in the middle of the night the demand is STILL that high. Just blows my mind.

(62,276 posts)I think you're right.
What people don't understand is that for the more than two dozen states without personal sites the Healthcare.gov site is the primary site where it gets done (for Colorado or California, you're redirected to other websites; Colorado just got its working, after nearly two days). So Healthcare.gov is basically having to deal with many states at once.
steve2470
(37,457 posts)That means 34 states do not have their own exchange. I'm not surprised the main website is so overwhelmed. I'm betting there are DDOS attacks going on, as well.

Oh well, the insurance won't start until January anyhow, I think I will chill a month or so.

(23,272 posts)Been trying for 30 minutes at the Illinois website (getcoveredIllinois.org).
I get the same message as you for about 5 minutes and then another message comes up telling me the site is completely down.
I agree that I think this is a good sign if its still super busy so late into the night. I think I'm heading back to bed though.

(22,308 posts)Been trying on and off for 2 days now. I get in a loop where it lets me enter my username and password and then sends me to that page, then some time later back to the login page.. over and over.
