Law Would Declare Single Parenthood Child Abuse (Wisconsin - Cuz Walker ain't bad enough)

Unbelievably Stupid Law Would Declare Single Parenthood Child Abuse

Wisconsin, that land of beer, cheese, and Aaron Rodgers jerseys, has had a tough couple of years, government-wise. First, they elected a bunch of, from what I can tell, taxidermied badgers holding guns to state legislature. To make matters worse, their governor seems to be an evil yet gloppy Koch puppet. And now, one state legislator has decided it's a good idea consider being a single parent a form of child abuse. On, Wisconsin!

Senate Bill 507 is sponsored by Republican Senator Glenn Grothman of West Bend. If passed into law, SB507 would formally consider single parenthood a contributing factor to child abuse. Since most single parents are women, it doesn't take a Vince Lombardi to see that the game plan here is to inch toward criminalizing a woman's state of nonmarriage. The proposed law states,

Section 1. 48.982 (2) (g) 2. of the statutes is amended to read:
48.982 (2) (g) 2. Promote statewide educational and public awareness campaigns and materials for the purpose of developing public awareness of the problems of child abuse and neglect. In promoting those campaigns and materials, the board shall emphasize nonmarital parenthood as a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect.

Section 2. 48.982 (2) (g) 4. of the statutes is amended to read:
48.982 (2) (g) 4. Disseminate information about the problems of and methods of preventing child abuse and neglect to the public and to organizations concerned with those problems. In disseminating that information, the board shall emphasize nonmarital parenthood as a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect.

Make contraception and abortion illegal and then arrest women for being single parents...sounds just great. Oh and I suppose children are never abused when the parents are married?

So what if your spouse dies in an accident? Do you hand your child over? No birth control, and now more single moms. How does that happen says Rush Limpballs?

1. You don't have access to birth control and/or abortion. You have a child. You don't marry. Some parent or teacher doesn't like the way you're bringing up your child or just doesn't like you, period. Call to Child Protection and your child is removed and your parental rights may be terminated.

2. You marry. You have a child. Your spouse divorces you. You get primary custody. Your ex remarries and files for changed custody and gets it because you're a single parent.

3. You are a rape victim. You were denied Plan B and are pregnant. You have a baby. Child Protection takes away your child in the hospital and starts proceedings to terminate your rights. Unless you marry your rapist or anyone else.
