(2,237 posts)I've never understood that. Why doesn't health insurance cover dental visits? Your mouth is a part of your body's health to.

(28,581 posts)Even when I had Mass health there were 3 tiers of coverage. Free ( covered all dental too) and then two tiers of insurance that you could pay into the state for, depending on your income. Those two did not include any dental.

The same is true of some dental issues.

(18,402 posts)That is, anything medical will be covered. But not glasses or contacts. Vision insurance covers a portion of the cost of frames and lenses, or contacts. It's the hardware part only.

(36,745 posts)In Canada, I understand that it's how they do it as well. Dental, vision, RRSP (like a 401k) and salary. Correct me if I'm wrong folks from Canada.

Until dental and vision are viewed as medical issues and covered by insurance, this is a viable financial alternative. Combined with what you would have paid out in copays, it should help.
