National Hall of Shame

These are taken directly from our late government's websites. I didn't want to forget this day. I am trying to recall the words of the national anthem: the "what so proudly we hail" part where we still see the flag waving through the "perilous night." What a joke. Next Republican I see wearing a flag pin, I will need to be restrained from ripping it off their lapels and piercing their noses with it.

Federal Communications Commission:
We regret the disruption, but during the Federal Government-wide shutdown, the FCC is limited to performing duties that are immediately necessary for the safety of life or the protection of property. FCC online systems will not be available until further notice.

Center for Disease Control:
Due to the lapse in government funding, only web sites supporting excepted functions will be updated unless otherwise funded. As a result, the information on this website may not be up to date, the transactions submitted via the website may not be processed, and the agency may not be able to respond to inquiries until appropriations are enacted.

Department of Labor:
NOTICE: Due to suspension of Federal government services, this website is not being regularly updated.

Department of Education:
Thank you for visiting ED.gov. Due to a lack of appropriations, ED activities have been curtailed and most employees are on furlough. ED.gov will not be updated during the shutdown. Updates will resume and ED will return to normal operations as soon as funding is restored. During the shutdown, information at ED.gov may not be up to date, transactions submitted via ED.gov might not be processed, and the agency may not be able to respond to inquiries until appropriations are enacted.

AmeriCorps:
Due to the lapse in government funding, this website is currently not available. CNCS assets, including all related websites and social media accounts, will be inactive until appropriations are enacted. We regret this inconvenience. Updates to this page will be posted as more information becomes available.

Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services: Due to the government shutdown, information on this website might not be up to date.

US Department of Human and Health Services:
Due to the lapse in government funding, only web sites supporting excepted functions will be updated unless otherwise funded. As a result, the information on this website may not be up to date, the transactions submitted via the website may not be processed, and the agency may not be able to respond to inquiries until appropriations are enacted.

State Department:
Memo: Departmental entities will continue to operate until their respective balances are insufficient to continue.

Treasury Department:
In the event of a government shutdown many pages and documents on the Department of the Treasury’s website, www.treasury.gov, will not be updated.

Department of Justice:
Due to the lapse in government funding, information on this website will not be routinely updated, the transactions submitted via the website may not be processed, and the department may not be able to respond to inquiries until funding has been restored.

EPA:
The federal government is currently shut down. The EPA website and social media channels will not be updated until the federal government reopens.

Department of Transportation:
During the government shutdown, some online content may not be updated on a regular basis, and the processing of online transactions may be delayed. The "Updated" date at the bottom of each page shows the last time it was updated. Employees seeking additional information as to their work status may visit the DOT Operating Status page.

Federal Election Commission:
Like many federal agencies, the FEC will be unable to provide any services during the government shutdown. Agency staff will not report to work, some computer systems will be powered down and the agency’s headquarters will be closed. While the FEC’s website will remain on-line, its content will not be updated. Although the interactive, web-based programs and electronic filing systems may be available for a temporary period of time after the shutdown, IT staff will not be available to monitor and resolve any technological issues that may arise regarding those systems. The agency’s telephone system will not be turned off during the shutdown, but staff will not be available to answer any calls. Email messages sent to staff will not be reviewed, and postal mail and other services will be delayed until the agency reopens.

If you are trying to contact the FEC, you will be unable to do so during the government shutdown. Also, if you have pending or new business before the FEC, or are waiting for a response from FEC staff, you should not expect to hear from us until we reopen. We look forward to resuming operations as soon as possible.

US Commission on Civil Rights:
Due to an absence of appropriations, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights is not currently open. Once funding has been re-established, the agency will re-open under its normal schedule.

Consumer Products Safety Commission:
Announcement: This site will only be updated with information about imminent risks during the government shutdown.

NASA:
Due to the lapse in federal government funding, this website is not available. We sincerely regret this inconvenience.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers:
Closures of USACE-operated campgrounds and day-use parks beginning Tuesday, October 1, if the potential shutdown of the federal government for lack of fiscal 2014 funding legislation goes into effect.

NOAA:
Due to the Federal government shutdown, NOAA.gov and most associated web sites are unavailable. Only web sites necessary to protect lives
and property will be maintained.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission:
Update: This week’s Waste Confidence meetings will be held as scheduled. We’ll keep you updated on the status of meetings scheduled for next week.
If there is a lapse, many agencies will shut down operations and furlough employees except for those necessary to support possible emergencies. At the NRC, however, we have some “carryover” funding, which is essentially previous year’s funding that was not expended. By being careful with that money, the NRC should be able to remain open for at least one additional week of largely normal operations.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration:
During the government shutdown, some online content may not be updated on a regular basis, and the processing of online transactions may be delayed. The "Updated" date at the bottom of each page shows the last time it was updated.

The Public Information Office and the Technical Support Desk of the Copyright Office are also closed. If you would like to file a copyright registration online, select the Continue to eCO button below. Filing your claim now will help ensure the earliest possible effective date of registration, although copyright registrations will not be processed until the Copyright Office reopens.

Smithsonian Institution:
Due to the federal government shutdown, all Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo are closed.

White House:
Due to Congress’s failure to pass legislation to fund the government, the information on this web site may not be up to date. Some submissions may not be processed, and we may not be able to respond to your inquiries.

how many people and agencies were being directly affected by the shut-down. Your list is extensive, if not exhaustive, and provides a great sense of how the shut-down is impacting our communities.
I appreciate your work.

the extent of the shut-down.
It seems the sentiment is against the republicans, who forced this situation. The citizens, in the districts, which sent these teabaggers to congress, need to be targeted with letters, in their local papers, condemning their irresponsible choices. They need to know how others perceive their acts.
