Very light traffic, even at early rush hour. I am on a quick overnight trip and the airports at both ends were quiet, too.

This will hurt the hotels and other business.

(24,461 posts)'Twas a ghost town. Got to look at every exhibit in the museums unhindered, no crowds.
There was every kind of military toy imaginable surrounding the White House, of course. Everything was heavily guarded.

(9,933 posts)Did all the mass layoffs in 2008 after the crash total that amount? It must be taking a big toll on the DC area. Hope the republicans stop this soon....that many people losing good jobs is going to ripple out into the community and cause a serious downturn otherwise.
Other people are going to laid off now.
This is how the depression in the 30's really started.
It wasn't just the stock market.
This is going to be messy.
All over the country this will happen.
I wonder how the republican business people will like it.
