What would YOU like to see the President do to end this hostage situation? I'll go first:

Shut down the FAA, perhaps? That would boil their teabags...

Would grind this country to a halt. It would cause serious economic damage and may spark another recession if it goes on long enough. The FAA is essential for air traffic control. This would be a reckless thing to do and the president would lose the image of being the adult in the room.

We're not talking "a bit of pain, more widely spread", we're talking economic disaster laid at the President's feet. You think that's somehow a good idea?

I think it would wake the electorate up alright... but not in the way you imagine.
