The Chaos Factor

Part of the strategy the GOP is using is a constant state of chaos. They have no intention of returning things to 'normal' and doing their jobs. In a couple of weeks the debt ceiling rolls around, and the sequester is still in place. Then it will be something else, and something else. Keep the crises coming until the federal government is completely destroyed.

1. It's no longer chaotic when it gets predictable. It's a game both sides are playing to appease Wall

St. that loves the Sequester/Slowdown because it means the Federal Gov't is spending and regulating less, which is what they demanded to begin with. A federal default on the Debt would be something else, so that won't happen.

Sequester and partial shutdowns are Austerity by means other than the normal political process which would ordinarily require that the pols in both parties vote on it - a vote on the record for austerity is something that neither party really wants. So, everyone plays this game instead.

You're saying Dems are complicit in this whole mess. I think we've gone way beyond both sides playing a game.

7. I think that's exactly the high-stakes game that's being played by both sides.

Neither side really knows where to go from here because clearly one or the other side has to capitulate, at least on the immediate issues.

I am sure the White House would like to steer this in the direction of his long-desired Grand Compromise. We will see.

3. How do you work with a group of anarchists who aim to burn the whole thing down?

1. Show everyone that the GOP is mad and wants to simply destroy destroy destroy.
2. Do the adult thing and get the bills paid. Don't worry about the repercussions from crazies in the GOP.
