The Social Conservative mantra: Sex is only for a married man and woman and only for procreation

Any other arrangement is the permissive hippie counterculture and further evidence of the decline of American civilization.

2. oh no, it's worse than that. it's about government control.

it's one thing to want that to be the social norm.
it's one thing to preach it in church.
it's one thing to teach it to your kids.

it's quite another thing to make it a guiding principle of governmental policy.

they're entitled to their opinion, and free and welcome to advocate for their social agenda in the public realm.

but a GOVERNMENT shouldn't cater its policies to the most rigid amongst its people. and a big part of the social conservative agenda is using GOVERNMENT powers to push their agenda, if not enforce it entirely.

3. There isn't much farther they can go...

They can do the Shaker thing - no sex at all for anybody until everyone dies off. I have my doubts.

They can do the abusive patriarch thing, where Daddy fucks kids, grandkids, nephews, and nieces - after all, the father has complete authority. A nation of Mark Wessons - I think this appeals to some of them, but not all.

They can turn their frustrated sex drives into rape-like violence, and occasionally let some pressure off by leaking some sex into the monstromechanical rape scenarios. War used to be good for this, but modern war slaughters civilians too indiscriminately to leave anyone to rape - not that they'll do you any good if they're in the Middle East and you're in the middle of a mountain in the Rockies anyways. Maybe they'll develop a cross between a drone missile and a transvaginal ultrasound device.

Or they can just be hypocritical, and have the rich and powerful do what they damned well in public, and let patriarchs do what they damned well want in private, and enforce a public culture of silence around it all.

5. How boring

I can't imagine "saving myself" until marriage (for one thing, I'd still be waiting at age 43- no way!). For another I'd want to be with someone who knows what they are doing and I assume they would too.

Why can they not understand that sex is a normal part of human life and it is good and okay to do these things (as long as you are not hurting anyone else)? I cannot understand why they care so much about what people do in the privacy of their own homes?

The Pill was liberating for women. It saved them from the prison of marriage and being nothing but baby factories.
