God fucking dammit, second call of the night, and its a guy whose prescription benefits ran out...

for the year, he exceeded the maximum, so now he has to pay full price for prescriptions(and probably medical) for the next 3 months for himself and the rest of his family. At least he didn't yell or scream, or cry or something, he just seemed, resigned I guess. I would be too, but I feel bad for him.

kid's medication because the insurance company is run by assholes.

I've had people become very angry because again, the insurance company is run by assholes.

I occasionally, its actually quite rare, try to get Xanax or narcotic addicts to try to get their medications billed through the insurance at several different pharmacies, those are the only ones I don't have sympathy for. Hell, I'm sympathetic of the guys who can only get 4-6 pills of Viagra/Cialis a month, feel sorry for their SOs to.

most of them employers or unions, and I would estimate that about 1 in 5 have some type of annual and/or lifetime limit for prescription coverage. That's why I'm so glad for that provision of the ACA, its awesome, and I won't have to take calls from people in February explaining why Jimmy's childhood diabetes will have to be treated at free clinics and/or hospitals because 2 months supply of his medications was enough to max out the benefits. Yes, some plans are that sucky.

that are used short term to treat and outright cure certain ailments, maintenance medications are different.

Not that I actually know a whole lot about that, I don't know their specific policies.
