@stevekraske Steve Glorioso wishes it was October right now.
Late October, to be exact. Close to the election. Because thats how confident the Democratic consultant is that El Rushbos depiction of a college student as a slut would improve his partys chances. The student, Sandra Fluke, had told lawmakers about the need for contraceptive coverage under the new health care law.
The backlash against talk show host Rush Limbaugh is so strong, so overpowering from members of both parties, that President Barack Obama is destined to get a boost in the polls, Glorioso said. So might Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill.
But man o man, if only it was late October.
Itd be like a gift from heaven, Glorioso said.
This isnt the first time the conservative Limbaugh has pitched in to help Democrats. You can make a case that McCaskill has the word senator in front of her name precisely because of Limbaughs fateful 2006 denunciation of Michael J. Fox that year in late October.
Remember that one?
Limbaugh ripped Fox, the one-time TV star who suffers from Parkinsons and had made a TV ad for McCaskill.

(9,118 posts)I would think that Limblot's remarks would be a BIG help in motivating Democrats and turning independents away from voting for the Senile Elephant Party, but it's still a LONG way to November. There will be all too many opportunities for the Republicans and the right-wing noise machine to distract and confuse the careless, inattentive, easily-distracted portion of the electorate that determines who gets elected to office and who doesn't.
I pay at least some attention to what's going on, and I can't imagine why anyone voting for his or her interests and grossing under $250K a year would vote Republican in these times. That's why I became a partisan Democrat.
But then again, I pay attention.

But the timing isn't quite right yet.

(9,118 posts)This is but one incident nine months before the November elections. I want the gifts that keep on giving--Republicans and right-wing pundits, talk-show hosts, and bloggers to keep shooting off their mouths--and infuriating decent people between now and November.
I fear that the 2008 election was mainly about voters being fed up with Dubya. What I'd like to see are voters fed up with so-called "conservatism" and the Republican Party.
