Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) did not discount what he called public reports that Republican lawmakers were drinking on the job, telling Salon that it was affecting their job performance.
Its a fact we all have to live with, Grayson said in an interview published on Tuesday. Its making them violent and abusive towards America.
Grayson did not identify any Congress members by name, but told Salon that you can smell alcohol on their breath as theyre voting gleefully to shut down the government and create chaos.
Huffington Post correspondent Jennifer Bendery wrote on Twitter on Monday night that, About every other House lawmaker I just talked to smelled like booze. Its only 9pm. Benderys account corroborates a Post report from Saturday that other media members witnessed or smelled unidentified lawmakers drinking in the midst of negotiations over shuttering government offices.
Grayson also accused House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) of stymieing a vote on a clean continuing resolution one providing funding for the government that also includes the

(2,679 posts)If you can't wait till after work to drink then maybe you have a problem. There is a wonderful group that can help these drunk congress types, its called AA. Helped me this dec I will have 14 years of sobriety.
Not to mention demand drug tests. Don't they want welfare recipients to be forced to take drug tests to receive benefits. And don't most places of employment in the Federal government have random drug testing? Why are members of Congress exempt? They do after all receive their funding from the tax payers.

(735 posts)The sad part? The type of the people who vote for these assholes where I live, would cheer for the drunk Republicans while hollering " Freebird" ( the unofficial anthem of the south. ) and hoisting a beer.

When you talk to them privately, what you find is that if they could repeal Medicare they would, Grayson argued to Salon. If they could repeal Medicaid they would.
They are literally offended by the idea that people would get the care they need to stay healthy or alive even though they cant afford it.
They regard it as some kind of crime against nature.
Paragraphing and emphasis is mine, from the OP link.
I'll take the Democratic Party against these guys any day of the week. With the exception of a few trapped in red state hell, this is not any Democrat that I have ever known.
But it fits every Libertarian, Teabagger and Republican except the old ones. I'm not giving a pass to alternative media who claim they speak for freedom and liberty against the tyranny of 'evil gubermint.'
They'd piss on your grave if they had the chance, or do you in for target practice.
No, I won't give in. And today, I don't have to. The GOP knows that Americans want Medicare, Medicaid and now Obamacare.
That's why they've gone to such extraordinary lengths to stop its implementation. They are not going out without wailing and gnashing their teeth, but they've lost big.
