Looks like the GOP is caving on the shutdown...

Veterans break past World War II Memorial barricade (CNN)

Update 1:45 p.m. ET: House GOP leadership sources tell CNN they plan to vote on a series of bills to fund the government, beginning Tuesday with three measures–spending for veterans, the District of Columbia and the Park Service.

So the GOP will begin today approving government spending for veterans, DC, and the Park Service? My, my, my...how the "mighty" have fallen!

Oh, and Rep. Steve King of Iowa argued "this should be considered a 'slow down,' not a 'shutdown.'" It appears they wanted a "slow down" and not a "shut down" all along!

It's a start...

For any bill the House sends over:

1) Senate votes to Proceed with debate;
2) Amendments are scheduled, including a clean CR for the full government;
3) Cloture vote;
4) Senate votes on amendments, passing clean CR for the full government
5) Full bill is passed and sent back to the House.

At that point, good luck to Boehner & Company.

There's whispers that the Senate Democrats over the coming weeks and months intend to repay this shutdown by bringing piecemeal sequester rollbacks in legislation; making the House literally go on the record and vote to specifically deny funding to cancer research or AIDS research or trauma care for veterans of the wars they're cheerleading.

The House is unlikely to approve anything but it's going to get ugly in election season when we can run ads inquiring why Steve King hates babies with birth defects, why Louie Gohmert is part of the death panel that killed your Grandma, what Eric Cantor has against victims of the VA earthquake and why Virginia Foxx voted against American heroes. The voting records are going to bury them, it's a mountain of clear-cut black-and-white text opposition to their constituents personal interests. It's hard to run on conservative values against the self-interests of your every individual constituent.

Just as they should. This Ted Cruz bullshit plan to fund EVERYTHING except Obamacare is a fucking joke. NO way the Senate should start playing the Houses game. Fuck Ted Cruz.

A House of Congress has the right to amend and return anything the other house sends it. The first bill that hits the Senate needs to be amended to include full funding for the entire government including Obamacare.
