Yet another new low for republicans
Met Tom Emmer. Hes' running for Minnesota's sixth district as a republican. Turns out he's not above giving a little plug to one of his (doubtless) campaign contributors in the process:
Hi, Im Tom Emmer, and Im running for Congress in Minnesotas Sixth Congressional District, Emmer says in the ad, with his blue campaign banner behind him. If youre looking for someone to do remodeling, siding or general construction residential or commercial I can tell you without qualification, you need to call the folks at Integrity Exteriors and Remodelers. Theyre the best.
Note the irony: Integrity Exteriors and Remodelers.

A national political expert, Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginias Center for Politics, said, Ive never seen anything like it, and I have literally watched thousands and thousands of ads. Ive never seen a combination of political ad and product promo.
Carleton College political science professor Steven Schier, a veteran observer of campaigns, was astonished. This is so weird. This is so extraterrestrial, he said. You would think the Sixth District was returning to Earth now that Michele Bachmann is retiring. But no, were boldly going where no one has gone before.
The ad was quickly pulled because it violates campaign laws. Duh.
