House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) said in a letter on Friday that Democrats had a "narrow focus" on Rush Limbaugh calling Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke a "slut" for her testify about contraception coverage and said members of his staff had been attacked as well.
It was Issa's committee that wouldn't allow Fluke to testify because they said she wasn't an appropriate witness to talk about the topic of religious freedom. Issa criticized Democrats for using the situation to "politicize the situation and use it to raise campaign cash."
Issa said that his female staffers had been the subject of "intense and disgusting accusations and insults -- 'hag,' 'traitor,' and numerous references to anatomy have been among the milder expressions hurled over the phone."

(95,247 posts)There is no equivalence between being assailed by name in a radio broadcast to many millions of listeners, and abusive language on a telephone call. He knows this.
He also knows that no attack on 'freedom of religion' is underway. People are simply being rendered unable to impose their religious beliefs on people who do not hare them, prevented from forcing other people to abide by their own religious convictions. Issa knows perfectly well he is defining eligious freedom as the right to force others to act in accordance with a religious creed they do ot themselves accept.

(9,933 posts)and wouldn't be an issue at all if we had single payer. Employers and universities wouldn't be tasked with providing health care and republicans wouldn't have to remind us that they are medieval pigs who view women as baby factories incapable of making decisions for themselves.
