Just Heard That Boehner Is In A Position To Lose His Job As Speaker No Matter What Happens.....

and that the Repugs would bring in Eric Cantor as Speaker. The question I have is - What would Eric Cantor do differently? How would he handle the situation? Would he be a better speaker - but for who - the Repugs and they would just dig in deeper? or would he be better for the American People in general?

a total asshole. The RW nutbags who live here keep re-electing the little fuck, but a Dem challenger last election gave him a run for his money and got almost 40% of the vote with NO money from the national Democratic Party to help him. It was a complete travesty -- we could have booted Cantor out had there been any national Dem interest in doing so. I will leave it to the readers to wonder why the Dem challenger got no help. I can't figure it out.

I would hope it would guarantee the doom of the Republican party. But I don't really have much of a grasp on how the average individual thinks and decides. They have always been a mystery to me.

11. I wish he would, too, but he used up personal money to run and I'm not

sure he could afford it again. His campaign chest was about $400,000, compared to Cantor's $10 million! And he got 40% of the votes despite this!

They guy walked my neighborhood -- we had a good talk, I donated, and I was absolutely appalled at how he was treated by national Dems. He told me he had called and written various Dem orgs and committees in DC and couldn't even get them to answer him. I've written about this plenty of times on DU to illustrate how insular and uninterested the various Dem organizations are, after Dean's 50-state strategy was dismantled. We need Dean back doing this strategy -- Powell would have won had he had any support at all from DC. And we would have been rid of that boil on Virginia's ass.

2. He would be better for Republicans and the hardliners

He probably would be a bit stronger, at least at first. Tea Party Republicans have been suspicious of Boehner for a while. But he is also more ideologically pure than Boehner - he's going to be less inclined to compromise.

Than again, he may be politically astute enough to recognize the Speaker of the House job as a poisoned chalice just now. If he does than he may not take it.

Bitch face Cantor wouldn't be any better. But, he'll still have to cave to President Obama.

controversies involving the House and its' leadership, Cantor was described as to the right of Bonehead. Don't know if that analysis is accurate or not; if so, it's bad news, if not; it's still bad news.

The House is unmanageable as it is except if you have a speaker ready to go after the Tea Party. Nobody who can be elected speaker belongs to this category.
