From the Naval Air Station PAX website:

COMMISSARY

The commissary is OPEN Tuesday, Oct. 1, to sell as much produce and perishables as possible. The commissary will be CLOSED beginning Wednesday, Oct. 2. The Defense Commissary Agency will post the latest information on their website.

Base civilian workers can use the commissary, base gas station & PX too; it's part of the paycheck. Not only are the prices lower, but there's no sales tax.

Not only did they just get locked out, their household expenses just went up 10%. (disclaimer: number pulled from my ass)
