Congressman Xavier Becerra :"Enough already!

Tonight, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement after voting against yet another proposal that would cause a government shutdown:

"Enough already!

"Once again, the Republicans who control Congress have capitulated to the ideological demands of the Tea Party and put us on a course to shut down our government. Our GOP colleagues, once again, have rejected House Democrats’ overtures to pass a clean bipartisan funding bill. And, once again, they have voted to put insurance companies back in charge of Americans’ health care decisions.

"The American people have had enough. Elected leaders don't have the luxury to act like spoiled children, certainly not when they're just hours away from shutting down our government. Rather than obsess over closing the doors to services that taxpayers have paid for, Republicans must join Democrats to grow our economy and strengthen the middle class. It’s time to put country before party."

Why are we pretending the Tea Party is a subsection of the House Republicans? dkf Sep 2013 #1
Because it's a bullshit media narrative of their own creation. arcane1 Sep 2013 #2

That's the vast majority of the group that runs the house.

I applaud Congressman Becerra for turning the term "tea party" into what it should be: an epithet.
