All because the ACA passed and was upheld by the courts.
Am I wrong, or is it really just as simple as that?

(7,051 posts)Nice to see Obama calling their bluff. When he was "reaching across the aisle," it should have been to smack them.

(9,033 posts)Sure, they hate the ACA and they hate Obama. But what they really hate is the idea that government can solve problems for average people, make their lives better, make them more secure.
The entire Reagun revolution was based on the idea that government is the problem, that if we just get government out of the way, then everything will be great, for everybody. Cut taxes, cut regulations, cut safety nets, and the free market will provide, wealth will trickle down, a rising tide lifts all boats blah blah blah.
A program like this, especially addressing a huge problem for an overwhelming portion of the population--even those with insurance have seen their rates rise by double-digits every year, seen coverage delayed and denied when it was needed, seen huge profits by insurance companies--a program like this, with its potential impact, could drive a stake through Ronnie Raygun's vampire heart.
There is a long way to go, both on medical care and Reagun's legacy, but it is a step forward.
