Cruz seems to represent the extreme right wing who have finally gained some power, and will replace those who disagree. Besides, He does not plan on coming back as Speaker of the House.

The Tea Party are just extreme Repubs.

99% of the Republicans in Congress are the 1% lackey class, no matter what they call themselves.

He knows if he crosses the Teabaggers, he will get outvoted out of his job. I don't know the precise mechanics of all that, but that's what I keep reading in different places in the past. Who knows, maybe he agrees with them ? John needs to go get a job as a bartender in DC, he'd be damn good at it.

If he chose us instead, he'd lose his job and a whole lotta money, being funneled by the Cockroach brothers.

Nice quality priorities, huh?

He knows that if he goes against the teabagger nutjobs and their big money backers, he will likely lose his speakership, and possibly any cushy K Street job he might have lined up if and when he quits Congress. That is more important to him than the good of the country or doing what's right.

The baggers hope PBO will chicken out at the last second and compromise, and if he doesn't, that he will eventually and/or they will win the PR political battle over this.

They will regret they are doing this. The public, in general, can see they are at fault for this entire mess.

He will eventually be forced to set it aside and let some republicans vote with the dems to pass a clean bill. In the meanwhile they are being killed in the court of public opinion.
