(26,286 posts)I'm in Mid-Michigan. Very little snow, this winter. We got more in one storm, last year, than the entire season, this year. The ground is thawing so fast, I'm afraid we will be mowing by mid-April.

(34,136 posts)Just outside of Escanaba and last night they had the first snowfall of the YEAR. The UP is known for a lot of snowfall in a normal year - she's 72, lived there all her life and has never seen this happen before.
On the other hand, here I am outside Tallahassee, Florida and this is one of the warmest winters I have seen in the 40 years I've lived here. We've had one cold snap and a couple of frosts, but most of the "winter" has been 60-70 days and 40-60 nights - way warmer than normal.
This is after LAST winter when we had one of the longest and coldest spells in recorded history here. I think it was two full weeks when the temperature didn't get above the mid-30s and it was around 20 every night! The summer before THAT was one of the hottest summers we'd ever had.
Climate change is happening.

(1,569 posts)Last year the large amount of snowfall was due to global warming. I remember reading here on DU that it was OBVIOUS that warmer weather would lead to more snow. Something about more evaporation, so more moisture in the air making more snow. It's hard to keep up.

(1,569 posts)due to 'more energy' in the 'weather engine'. That sounds so scientific. My friends will definitely buy that.

(115,677 posts)More snow. Less snow. More rain. Less rain. All weather extremes, see?

(51,666 posts)"more weather records being broken" do you not get??
This sort of BIZARRE, unseasonable weather is exactly the trend predicted by climatologists, just like last year's extremes, and the year before, etc.
