So . . . . this shitstorm around Viagra Boy and The Boner . . . . good, bad, indifferent?

Its been in all the papers.

Viagra Boy called a Georgetown Law Student a slut and a prostitute.

People gasped.

Viagra Boy wouldn't back down.

House women and some men, led by the wonderful Louise Slaughter, signed a letter - 80 strong at last report - and sent it to The Boner asking him to condemn Viagra Boy.

(We all KNOW that any right winger who shows the temerity to disagree publicly with Viagra Boy soon enough is made to get before a national audience to eat his words, all the time while kneeling in abject supplication before The Great Rush, and lick his cigar.)

So The Boner hides out for a while, keeping his head down and hoping against hope the shitstorm will blow over.

And you know. It just might have. If it weren't for the GOP's ongoing, and currently losing, assault on women. The (genuine and righteous) outrage being shown over the various and sundry frontal assaults on women, such as the transvaginal probe bill in Virginia that was replaced with a softer, gentler, forced ultrasound by the "Who's Your Daddy?" motherfuckers of the Old Dominion, have enraged all of the left and a good portion of the Remaining Reasonable Right.

Boner was gunna hafta walk it back. No doubt about it.

And so today, in a silly caricature of Solomon, The Boner made his statement via spokesmodel:

"The speaker obviously believes the use of those words was inappropriate, as is trying to raise money off the situation," Michael Steel, Boehner's spokesman, told CNN

Nice try, Boner. I like the English you put on that False Equivalency argument. That ball zigged and zagged on its way to the gutter, missing the 7-10 split.

I wonder if Boner thinks the TeaBagging/RelgiouslyInsane lobby won't be looking for the mouth breathing set to flip in a few rubles, too, over this flap. Ya think?

Anyway, here's my point.

So often, Limbaugh gets a shitstorm started, the repubs gasp, but then, before the newscycle ends, have walked it back while begging for Rush's forgiveness. And again and again and again . . . . . .

Will The Boner walk it back, too, and that will be that?

Or will this be different? Will this actually get some legs? And the same staying power as the RushStick when he uses The Viagra?

Obama's already inserted himself into the dustup by calling the young woman and letting her know he thinks her parents ought to be proud of her.

The sides are drawn, boys and girls. Who's gonna win this one do you think?

I'm kinda thinking women will. One way or another. I'd love to think that women will win and Rush will lose (Join DumpASponsor, spoken about all over the DU and elsewhere), but I will still be happy if women win and Viagra Boy survives it.

The Boner is just a pawn.

Three advertisers withdrawn today, at least for now... Limbaugh is all about the money. We'll see where this goes.
