John Boehner should show some dignity and do the honorable thing.

I get the feeling that in his heart he is disgusted with having to pander to the tea party crazies in his eagerness to hold on to his speakership. And that he understands how horribly dangerous it is to play with the idea of the US defaulting on its debt. Instead of throwing away all of his self-respect he should acknowledge that he is incapable of bridging the gap with the Michele Bachmann type lunatics, and bow out gracefully. If he did that I would actually have a modicum of respect for the guy.

Yes. Especially listening to his speeches and press conferences. In them he sounds like a teabagger. AlinPA Sep 2013 #12

Sort of jaundiced liver color...as in coward and drunk. No, he won't shoot himself in the head. He doesn't have either honor or dignity.

He needs to order that Rule null and void and go across the aisle and work with Pelosi and the Democrats to get the job done.

But unfortuantely I don't think Boehner knows how to get rid of that rule.

He needs to resign right now from the Speaker position (as he is quitting that role after '14) and let the 'Baggers try to take it head on.

So he might as well resign it as opposed to being fired from it.

But if he resigned he'd be replaced by Eric Cantor, who is notoriously dangerously ambitious and willing to stomp on anyone anywhere to satisfy that ambition. Boehner can be trusted to be incompetent; nobody should ever trust Cantor for anything. Those who see him as Brutus do so with good reason.
