I am HORRIFIED.

Now, when young women speak out, they're being called names like "prostitute" and "slut"? No way. That cannot be allowed to continue.

This is all out war from the oligarchs,
They are waging war on the people and one group of people are the women. As the post above has stated, the groups under attack are Women, unemployed, under employed, gays, minorities of any color. This pretty well includes EVERYONE that is not a Gazillionaire. They want to create a permanent class of serfdom and we are it. The elections are rigged, and I fear that with the passage of the Defense Authorization Act, they can now turn the military our taxes pay for against us in our own homes.
We had better wake up so I urge each and every one of you to join an OCCUPY group, or your local political party, and make a difference because there are a lot more of us than there are of them.

Fri Mar 2, 2012, 04:41 PM

My wife was recently diagnosed with Lupus, an autoimmune disease, thought to be genetic.

While researching the disease to find out what she was facing, I discovered that 9 OUT OF 10 PEOPLE WITH LUPUS - ARE WOMEN.

Monthly periods, child birth, bone problems, cervical and breast cancer - the list of afflictions suffered exclusively by women is enormous.

And then we men are like, "Yeah - and we'll pay you less, too!"

Girls, there are a few of us men who try to get it - and for what it's worth - we've got your backs.

such as a disease or condition resulting in the need for a "penisectomy," I'll bet we would think quite a bit differently about women.

But, we don't...

And yes, men can get breast cancer, but a mastectomy does not affect a man's sexual identity the way it can a woman's - so I don't think its truly comparable.

As I said, some men try to get it, but I for one know we can never truly "get it" - as we are not women.

If only women had a point-of-view gun to use on us men...

But...

There is another component to this thing.

I don't think the Repubs realize who they are fucking with. I'm pro-woman, but I'm also aware that women can make things... ummm... difficult for those who cross them.

My mother, my wife, my woman friends...? Sweet, nice, smart, reasonable, etc, etc,.... but piss them off and you'll wish you hadn't.

It makes me think they have a fix on things, whether it's rigged elections or a military coup. What I'm worried about is that our rights are going to be violently taken away, and we will have to fight for our lives, spilling our own blood, to get the rights back. The R's are just way too smug and confident about this open misogyny - they know something and it really makes me worry.

Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon
We are shakin' the tree
Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon
We are shakin' the tree

Waiting your time, dreaming of a better life
Waiting your time, you're more than just a wife
You don't have to do what your mother has done
She has done, this is your life, this new life has begun

It's your day, a woman's day
It's your day, a woman's day

Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon
We are shakin' the tree
Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon
We are shakin' the tree

Turning the tide, you are on the incoming wave
Turning the tide, you know you are nobody's slave
Find your sisters or brothers who can hear all the truth in what you say
They can support you when you're on your way

It's your day, a woman's day
It's your day, a woman's day

Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon
We are shakin' the tree
Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon
We are shakin' the tree

Changing your ways, changing those surrounding you
Changing your ways, more than any man can do
Open your heart, show him the anger and pain, so you heal
Maybe he's looking for his womanly side, let him feel

You had to be so strong
And you do nothing wrong, nothing wrong at all
We're gonna break it down
We're gonna shake it down, shake it all around

No no no no no no
No no no no no no
No no no no no no

It's your day, a woman's day
It's your day, a woman's day
It's your day, a woman's day
It's your day, a woman's day

It's your day, a woman's day
It's your day, a woman's day
It's your day, a woman's day
It's your day, a woman's day

It's your day, a woman's day
It's your day, a woman's day
It's your day, a woman's day

and guess what? My daughters (now 24 and almost 22) DID grow up to be strong, intelligent women who don't let any man control them. One's a working RN and the other is a manager in food service. They're with guys they CHOOSE to be with not because they feel like they HAVE to be with someone. And I like their SOs too. They don't try to control them out of some warped view of masculinity.

I'll gladly kick this thread for the women in my life. As a socialist we're talking about Rosa Luxemburg and Mother Jones. And even a little Emma Goldman. Our heroes have always had a contingent of strong, intelligent women.

Personally, my heroes are my Mom who raised 3 kids age 14, 12, and 10 (including two boys) into strong, intelligent adults after my Dad died. And my grandmother who raised 11 kids (eight girls) into strong, intelligent adults after their father was run off for being abusive.

Anything less on my part than a strong support of a woman's right to selfhood would be a betrayal of all those women in my life. And I don't do betrayal.

I think like a lot of women I was just living my life and minding my own business hoping everyone else was too. Then when the pro-forced birth crowd started messing with mine and my daughters rights that we both have taken for granted it definitely got me out of my happy stupor! I am angry beyond words and I have been fighting back the best way I know how- by contacting Senators and Congresspeople, signing more petitions than in the past few months than I have in my life and informing everyone of my friends what is going on.
'I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!!"

Don't you mess with a woman

Fri Mar 2, 2012, 06:19 PM
Mar 2012

I was born in the congo
I walked to the fertile crescent and built
the sphinx
I designed a pyramid so tough that a star
that only glows every one hundred years falls
into the center giving divine perfect light
I am bad

I sat on the throne
drinking nectar with allah
I got hot and sent an ice age to europe
to cool my thirst
My oldest daughter is nefertiti
the tears from my birth pains
created the nile
I am a beautiful woman

I gazed on the forest and burned
out the sahara desert
with a packet of goat's meat
and a change of clothes
I crossed it in two hours
I am a gazelle so swift
so swift you can't catch me

For a birthday present when he was three
I gave my son hannibal an elephant
He gave me rome for mother's day
My strength flows ever on

My son noah built new/ark and
I stood proudly at the helm
as we sailed on a soft summer day
I turned myself into myself and was
jesus
men intone my loving name
All praises All praises
I am the one who would save

I sowed diamonds in my back yard
My bowels deliver uranium
the filings from my fingernails are
semi-precious jewels
On a trip north
I caught a cold and blew
My nose giving oil to the arab world
I am so hip even my errors are correct
I sailed west to reach east and had to round off
the earth as I went
The hair from my head thinned and gold was laid
across three continents

I am so perfect so divine so ethereal so surreal
I cannot be comprehended except by my permission

I mean...I...can fly
like a bird in the sky...

Lyrics for the Youtube deprived:

You wined me and dined me when I was your girl
Promised if I`d be your wife you`d show me the world
But all I`ve seen of this old world is a bed and a doctor bill
I`m tearing down your brooder house `cause now I`ve got the pill

All these years I`ve stayed at home while you had all your fun
And every year that`s gone by another baby`s come
There`s gonna be some changes made right here on Nursery Hill
You`ve set this chicken your last time `cause now I`ve got the pill

This old maternity dress I`ve got is going in the garbage
The clothes I`m wearing from now on won`t take up so much yardage
Miniskirts hotpants and a few little fancy frills
Yeah I`m making up for all those years since I`ve got the pill

I`m tired of all your crowing how you and your hens play
While holding a couple in my arms another`s on the way
This chicken`s done tore up her nest and I`m ready to make a deal
And you can`t afford to turn it down `cause you know I`ve got the pill

This incubator is overused because you`ve kept it filled
The feeling good comes easy now since I`ve got the pill
It`s getting dark it`s roosting time tonight`s too good to be real
Aw but Daddy don`t you worry none `cause Mama`s got the pill

Oh Daddy don`t you worry none `cause Mama`s got the pill

The song's frank discussion of birth control, something that was considered risqué subject matter at the time, especially in country music, led to a number of country radio stations refusing to play it. The song received much publicity and airplay on the stations that would air it but its ban from a number of radio stations caused the record to stall at number five on the charts at a time when a Loretta Lynn record was almost guaranteed to be a top three hit, often a number one record. Nevertheless it earned her more press and attention outside the country market than anything she had ever recorded before and ultimately became her highest-charting pop single, peaking at #70 on the Hot 100.

In an interview for Playgirl Magazine, Lynn recounted how she had been congratulated after the song's success by a number of rural physicians, telling her how "The Pill" had done more to highlight the availability of birth control in isolated, rural areas, than all the literature they'd released.

"You don't own me, don't try to change me in any way
You don't own me, don't tie me down 'cause I'd never stay

I'm young and I love to be young
I'm free and I love to be free
To live my life the way I want
To say and do whatever I please

A-a-a-nd don't tell me what to do
Oh-h-h-h don't tell me what to say
And please, when I go out with you
Don't put me on display"

Question, tell me how you feel about this?
Try to control me boy you get dismissed

I bet Pigman is not a Destiny's Child fan.
