Try getting fire insurance for your house after it burns down. Or car insurance after the accident.

So yeah, you could just not pay until you need it then you'd get the care you need.

Which would suck for everyone else, thus the mandate.

($95 for a single person for the initial year) and thus doesn't provide much incentive for people
to get insurance if they aren't sick.
