People can't wait until they get sick to get health insurance - they are mandated to get it now, in order to increase the risk pool.

Try getting fire insurance for your house after it burns down. Or car insurance after the accident.

3. Actually, ObamaCare requires insurance companies to take preexisting conditions.

So yeah, you could just not pay until you need it then you'd get the care you need.

Which would suck for everyone else, thus the mandate.

4. One of the problems with the PPACA is the penalty for not having health care is too low...

($95 for a single person for the initial year) and thus doesn't provide much incentive for people
to get insurance if they aren't sick.
