Well Sheriff Joe has released the results of his bomb shell investigation
of President Obama’s eligibility to hold the office of President. A matter over which he has no jurisdiction and which was settled by the Electoral College and the Congress of the United States in 2008. Here are his mealy mouthed conclusions:
“There is new evidence that can prove fraud, forgery and other criminal offenses, I am not accusing the President of committing such acts but these are not just allegations. There are a lot of smoke screens and a lot of smoke. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire”
"When reached by me by phone this evening in Arizona, Sheriff Joe spoke of his reasons for the investigation. An elected official with over 20 years in law enforcement, Sheriff Joe told me that it was an independent, fair and non-politically motivated attempt to have qualified individuals examine the evidence. In response to a request from over 250 tea party members in Arizona,Arpaio formed a five man “posse” Arpaio called his all-volunteer group the Cold Case Posse and the posse acted independently of the Sheriff office. “Since they were independent, I can fully guarantee that no tax dollars where used to fund this investigation,” Sheriff Joe stated."
In other words a privately funded political campaign to attack the Obama administration and the DOJ for having the affrontery to investigate him for the misappropriation of public funds and carrying on a witch hunt against Hispanic residents of Mariopa County.
Sheriff Joe is like classic good ole boy prison farm captain played by Stother Martin in Cool Hand Luke. The law is what he says it is because he is the law in Mariopa. This guy would be a laughing stock if he wasn’t so influential iamong RW extremists.
Here are some of the duties his posse are in charge of:
"•Search and rescue •Emergency communications •Prisoner transport •Traffic control •Backup for sworn deputies •Office administrative duties •Holiday Mall Patrol (which provides motorist assistance and security for shoppers during the holiday shopping season) •Deadbeat parent details targeting men and women with outstanding arrest warrants for failure to pay child support •Assisting in immigration sweeps."
Immigration sweeps are illegal and resulted in the DOJ removing his power and funding he was receiving from the DHS."
In addition to his paid deputies Arpaio has fomented a volunteer and non deputized militia to enforce selective and unconstitutional legal harassment by members an extra legal “Posse”. These are the individuals who are behind his investigation of the President.
Arapaio’s real motive in all this is quite transparent.
“The timing of the press conference has raised a number of eyebrows as Arpaio faces increasing pressure from a years long investigation by the Department of Justice."
"An email sent out by a group called Grassfire Nation reports that over 100,000 petitions were delivered to the DOJ by Arpaio supporters and informed members of attempts by the DOJ to have Arpaio put a stop to those petitions. "
"Though Arpaio gave few details of today’s announcement, he spoke confidently about the members of his posse which include three former law enforcement officers and two retired attorneys. According to a number of sources, today’s announcement will lead to some serious questions that will demand answers. “

This ties in with rumors on the interwebs propagated principally by Freepers that Andrew Brietbart was assassinated in order to deflect the MSM, from covering Arpaio’s “bombshell news conference.” As if any reputable news outlet would cover the antics of a county Sheriff in Arizona.
The RW has gone insane today more than usual even. The ironic result is that all the coverage of the GOP primaries is off the front page. Which is a good thing since they are burning up valuable presidential campaign cash destroying their party in the primaries.
I guess we should be thankful for the RW’s Pavlovian tendency to devour their own to satisfy their petty resentments and tunneled political vision.
On a side note I was never more glad that I was a Canadian before today. Our politics are much more peaceful and free of corruption than the system you Americans live under. But apparently the Harper Conservatives have been implicated in voter suppression and fraud in one of their ridings so we may be going down the same road as you. I hope not. Honest elections is the only thing we have to brag about lately.
