Bill O'Reilly slammed me last night on his Fox News show for bringing up the fact (in an op-ed I did for the New York Times on Sunday) that he has called me a Communist. I used his remark as an example of the name-calling incivility that now passes for political debate in America. Yet O'Reilly refuses to have me on his program to debate either his initial charge I'm a Communist, or his indignation that I mentioned it in my op-ed. What's he afraid of?
