For the *life* of me, I can't understand why *DEMOCRATS* are ok with this.

GOP? Sure. Heritage Foundation? A friggin' WET DREAM.

But *DEMOCRATS* ????

>>>Within hours of the publication of the Teacher Data Reports (TDRs) last Friday, the UFT began to hear stories of teachers and their families being hounded by news reporters from the New York Post.
On Friday evening, New York Post reporters appeared at the door of the father of Pascale Mauclair, a sixth grade teacher at P.S. 11, the Kathryn Phelan School, which is located in the Woodside section of Queens. They told Mauclair’s father that his daughter was one of the worst teachers in New York City, based solely on the TDR reports, and that they were looking to interview her. They then made their way to Mauclair’s home, where she told them that she did not want to comment on the matter. The Post reporters rang Mauclair’s bell and knocked on her window all Saturday morning. She finally called the police, who told the reporters that since they were inside her private housing development, they were on private property and had to leave. The reporters rang the bell again, leading to a second visit from the police and a final warning to leave. Later, Mauclair’s neighbors told her that that the Post reporters had been asking them questions about her.>>>>

It's like "Bizzarro"-world from the old Superman comics. I realize that Sec. Duncan's connection to to public education is errrhhhhrrr...uuhhhmmmmm....eeehhhrrrrr... *MINIMAL*. ( His mom ran a tutoring service; my mom was a legal secretary. So I should be on the Supreme Court?)

And I realize President Punahou-Sidwell Friends is in an awkward position . ( He has... quite literally... no frame of reference. HINT: SO HIRE SOMEONE TO ADVISE YOU THAT *****D O E S******)

OK.... But they're dismantling my union and my profession. If I were not seeing this with my own eyes , I would not believe it.

DEMOCRATS: PAY ATTENTION. THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY *WRONG* HERE.

But I WILL do an extensive Google search of the author and see if I can tie them to Ralph Nader or Ron Paul!

None of the six defends the OBAMA-DUNCAN " silence= death " position on this issue.

What party is this?

Since when did we become the "Silent Majority"?

The silence is interesting. That's all I will say, since I have an alert squad monitoring my politeness levels on DU3.

And no Democrats will comment on this. I have sent several emails to a local progressive talk station about the bipartisan assault on teachers, and have received no response whatsoever—not even an acknowledgment that the email was received.

Geez, it's depressing.

Hang in there RR.

Email is a good idea, notwithstanding your lack of success. I'm emailing a link to this thread to every DEM $$$ fundrasing pitch I get.

That IS the difference between the Pro-LABOR "Democratic Party" of FDR/LBJ,
and today's New Democrat Centrist Party.

One can NOT support "Free Trade",
and be Pro-LABOR at the same time.
Pick ONE.

The Party Leadership has already made their choice,
and has a very disciplined "Message Control" enforcement apparatus.
The "Silence" SCREAMS the message.

You will know them by their WORKS,
not by their excuses.

I hope you read the OP.

Comparing teachers within a given school system on the basis of standardized test scores is inherently unfair. For about forty million easily identifiable reasons.

I'll start at the beginning: : some teachers teach bright kids.... eg. the bright kids are inclined to score higher on standardized tests than kids who are NOT AS BRIGHT. Some teacher teach kids who are NOT AS BRIGHT.

To compare the two implies that the teacher of the NOT -SO-BRIGHT kids is slacking off/incompetent/inferior to the teacher of the "bright" kids.

You do see the unfairness inherent in that particular comparison.... yes? And the fallacious conclusions that such a comparison would lead to?

They will endure it. My sister is right wing. She won't get a clue until it impacts her bottom line. Sorry to say it, but it's true of Republicans.

It's disgusting to demonize those whom attempt to help society by elevating their level of knowledge, but some do NOT get it. It's always going to be about religion to them, and never about knowledge.

It sounds very disturbing.

It's inevitable that there will be Democrats aiding and abetting the PTB's agenda to dumb down the citizenry. Is this Arne we're talking about?

Start with the link in OP. Then go to the DU Education Forum archives.

We've been warning about this for YEARS.

Frankly, it's worse than I ever imagined three years ago when Obama started to airily pontificate about something about which he knows ABSOLUTELY NOTHING: public education.

Though I will take exception to the 'absolutely nothing' remark. I'm sure he knows something, but unfortunately he's surrounded by people that may be inimical to public education.

I'll go have a look now. Thank you.
