Hello all my friends at DU. After five years of unemployment, I got hired today at Kmart. I know it's just Kmart but, after being unemployed for so long, I very happy. I am still without transportation so I will be scrambling to get to work till I can get enough money for a truck. We also still have to move due to landlord negligence. (not paying taxes on the rental I share with my Mom) Most of my money will be going to these two areas. I have updated my post on Wishadoo for anyone who would like to make a donation. Folks have been very generous and supportive of me and I have managed to start selling some things on my Etsy store. Not much yet, but it is a start. My friends have also donated items for me to sell on Ebay to help with my move and such. It has been a very long five years and often I have felt like giving up. Many times a single line, in a single post here has kept me going. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you all.
I am posting the link to my wishadoo account for anyone who would like to donate. Thanks to everyone here but especially to OneGrassRoot. She has been a rock for me and it is good to know that her, and folks like her are still around.

(22,271 posts)My husband and I were both out of work for several years and this year we both got jobs, though mine is only part-time. But still, I know that HUGE sigh of relief you're feeling right now. Do something nice for yourself in celebration, even if it's only buying yourself an ice cream.

So grateful to have some news to celebrate!!!!
You deserve wonderful experiences. I know the path is still really challenging, but my hope is that it will now be filled with more ease, less pain and struggle.
And I hope the path is one you can DRIVE on with a reliable vehicle soon!!!

(10,717 posts)I bicycle to work myself most of the time, but then moving and health isn't an issue here either. I hope you figure out something that's reliable and works for you. Pitched in a little, having been pretty fortunate myself the past few years. Best wishes from Oregon!
