Goodbye, Albert (Personal) Paul Krugman's furry friend.

No taper, at least yet. Government shutdown and maybe debt ceiling crisis looming. Obamacare rollout begins in a couple of weeks. There are a lot of important things happening in the world.

But we all have lives, too — and here in our household the sad news of the day was the end of the road for our surviving cat, Albert Einstein. We did the necessary for his sister Doris Lessing last fall; today Albert had reached the point where he could no longer stand up, and it was time to say goodbye.

Albert was 21.
