Defunding Everything Is All About Paying Tribute To The Rich
Ultimately the GOP believes that the rich and big business should ay absolutely no taxes. The 99% are permitted to live in an economy created by the job creators. Just for the privilege of having a job the believe workers should pay ALL the expenses to use the commons like roads that would be owned by the rich and corporations.
The nonfunding of the commons is all about selling all the commons, the roads, the schools, the bridges, the parks, the public land, etc to the business elite. That way workers can pay for the privilege of using these things. They want a country of "toll payers" who will pay tribute to the "ownership" class. It is just the same as the way Europe was where monarchs and nobles rule.
Back then the elite owned everything and the peasants were allowed to farm the king's land so they could pay taxes on the results of their effort. They got enough food to barely live but the kingdom got the rest. The GOP believes that we should have this kind of nation. The idea is that corporations and the private sector will build and repair all infrastructure.
I went by a park today near lake Tahoe and you had to pay for public parking just to go across the street to look at the view of he lake. That was the only parking in the area. And I am old enough to remember when a lot of public services had no fees. Museums, public parks, and other commons were paid for by all and enjoyed by all.
Now the GOP wants a commons where you will pay to drive out of your drive way or local street. When the roads, bridges, and other vital infrastructure fails, the GOP will tell the public that the private sector will buy it and run it. So be ready when your local water treatment plant is sold to the Chinese or rich corporation or investment company.
