I tried to remain civil towards that person in that thread, but I didn't appreciate his trolling tone one bit.

Hopefully the other poster will wise up and let things lie. It is nothing more than a form of homophobia; shouting down GLBT voices; telling us what we are "really" discussing; distracting from the topic in order to attack GLBT posters for other topics. So many think 'homophobia' is simply calling us nasty names, saying we don't deserve equality, or engaging in age old stereotypes, but homophobia is so much more and more prevalent than many want to believe.

And we have to work for asylum for Russian LGBTs. At the very least for LGBT couples with children.

who have gained so much during the time this lady who lives in Sao Paulo, Brazil was posting here.

She has generously, and graciously assisted us learn more about Brazil by supplying deep, thorough background on Brazilian current events, politicians, public figures, journalism, history, and specific situations like a recent, complex protest demonstration whicvh was ongong over a couple of weeks.

Her high-school daughter and her friends from school wanted to go to town to see what was going on there when the demonstrations first began, and this tremendous person told her to wait until the weekend, and she drove her daughter and her friends downtown, stayed with them, and then they all went home. She refused to allow her daughter to be unsupervised in a situation which had the possibility of violence and harm to her and her friends.

She has supplied amazing bunches of photos taken of the country, the events, the people, even informing us not long ago of a freak snowstorm and how it looked at night when the people who had never seen snow in their neighborhoods went outside after dark as in a huge community celebration to take photos, build snowmen, throw snowballs.

She has never ever indicated the slightest rancor toward the gay community in any of the posts I've seen, not once, and has always displayed a broad, well informed awareness of the larger picture, world history, etc.

She has been completely modest about herself, never has made personal attacks, has always been a joy who has brought far far more to the conversations than she could have ever taken away.

She will be greatly missed. Her nature was considerate, dignified, and not likely to get small and petty, and vicious. Her great "sin" was her keen awareness of the horrific history the U.S. has created for itself in the Americas. She will be missed more than anyone will know who hasn't read her comments in the Latin America forum over time.

Deeply painful situation for people who started knowing nothing about her and learned to appreciate her wisdom and goodness in no time at all.
