I thought it was fairly well made as far as a film goes. NuclearDem Sep 2013 #1

It didn't come off as overly sympathetic to Hitler, and it seemed to want to portray an accurate account of his last days in the bunker.

Overall I'd recommend it, if just for the cinematic quality.

...with many and various overlaid "translations" of that scene.

I have seen the whole movie too, however. It's been a while, but I remember thinking it was a good, powerful, dramatic accounting of what those final days might have been like.

I didn't think it was a masterpiece or anything that great like some say. The guy who played Hitler was good though.

I've heard that some Germans thought it portrayed him slightly sympathetically, but it didn't seem that way to me (perhaps the experience of watching with subtitles means you miss some subtleties of the performance?) The section after he's dead, when they're trying to get to safety, comes across as more of a normal adventure film, and perhaps that's generous to some of the real people involved. Goebbels and his wife come across as pretty inhuman, but that's roughly what they were, with what they did to their children.

Even the "sympathetic" characters helped Hitler on his rise to power, and supported him unconditionally way past the point when there should have been warning signs.
