(102,331 posts)Even in the front range areas where the water is beginning to recede there remain lots of road closures and every route west of Loveland, Boulder, Longmont -- are simply not reachable.
SO, there is good reason for many of those missing to be unaccounted for and one would hope they will be soon.
Unfortunately, we are to get another round of rain later this afternoon and into tomorrow. I've been here for previous floods, but this is the worst--most widespread- in my memory (though I do recall the horrific 1976 Big Thompson flood).

(102,331 posts)I'm in a dry area. I-25 north and south of me totally closed yesterday, and remains closed north of me to WY border today. Even in town there continue to be five major bridge/road closures--down from 10 yesterday.
So, most of the last few days have been a total bust, work-wise, but others have it far worst. While I think most 'missing' from Boulder area will be fine, I do worry a great deal about those in the Big Thompson Canyon, West of Loveland and there are still some communities west of Longmont in the mountains that have not been reached.

(102,331 posts)Sadly, some areas east of here had little warning (e.g., areas around Greeley) and horses/livestock were not able to be evacuated.
But seeing our National Guard helicopters evacuating people and their dogs/cats and first responders making attempts to free tethered horses when possible is very good to see. I still remember the horror of post Katrina New Orleans when evacuees were told to leave their pets to die.

(102,331 posts)this evening, into tomorrow. Getting out of areas near LaPorte would be quite a challenge, however, but the road (Hwy 14) into Poudre Canyon has come through comparatively unscathed, it appears.
